Share Market News, Stocks to Track: Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 suffered sharp losses on Monday amid a sell-off spanning most sectors, with financial, IT, energy, and auto shares being the worst hit as investors globally assessed mixed signals from major markets. Sensex shed 1,272.1 points, or 1.5 per cent, to end at 84,299.8 while Nifty50 slumped 368.1 points, or 1.4 per cent, to settle at 25,810.9.
At the current levels, both main gauges are off about 2.0 per cent from their all-time highs registered last Friday.

Tata Steel has ceases operations at Blast Furnace 4 along with other associated iron and steelmaking assets at Port Talbot, the UK’s largest steel plant, bringing an end to ironmaking at the site. Many of the existing ‘heavy end’ assets—such as blast furnaces and coke ovens—in Tata Steel UK’s Port Talbot works, had reached the end of their operational life.
Sustaining the current configuration any longer, or further investment in the traditional heavy end, was not economically or environmentally viable, according to the Tata group steelmaker.
