Windsor police have arrested and charged a 25-year-old man alleged to have lured and sexually assaulted a minor he met online.
The Windsor Police Service’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) — a specialized squad tackling online crimes against children — launched an investigation in May after receiving reports that a 15-year-old girl had been lured and assaulted by a local man she connected with through social media.

In a tweet posted on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday afternoon, Windsor Police Service said members of ICE investigated and then arrested the Windsor man and seized his electronic devices as evidence.
Police say that the suspect has been charged with sexual assault and luring a child under the age of 16.
ICE is a specialized law enforcement squad dedicated to investigating and combatting online crimes against children, such as luring, exploitation, and abuse.
There are subsections in the Criminal Code of Canada that deal separately with the luring of minor children under the age of 18, under 16, and 14 years of age.

In May, Windsor police charged a 27-year-old man with sexual assault and sexual interference of a minor under the age of 16.
Investigators said the suspect had befriended the girl at a business in the 800 block of Wyandotte Street East. The suspect then drove the girl to a nearby residence where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
